4th of July

Mr. Mitchell was sent out on a fire on the 4th of July, so Sprout and I took a last minute trip over to Mendon to celebrate.  There really aren't enough pictures to justify its own post, but, what the heck? We went over to Hyrum for a fun fireworks display. I was worried Sprout would be upset by the loud noises, but he did great and was spoiled by his cousins and aunt and uncle.

Thanks for the 4th of July shirt, Grandma Holdaway!

Sisterly Bonding

A couple of weekends ago my mom went to a reunion of some of her high school friends in Salt Lake City. She didn't want to do the drive alone so she invited me to come for most of the drive and then she'd drop me off at my sister's house in Mendon for the weekend. It was a good time.

My brother-in-law and niece planned a girls' day out for us to celebrate Jayme's birthday.

Our first stop was The Crepery. Holy deliciousness.

Don't be fooled by its simple look.

We embraced our inner hippies and sat in the egg chairs.

Angela and her youngest joined us for the heavenly crepes.
We then went to get Jayme's hair cut. We ended up going back twice to get it finished. Craziest haircut ever.

One interruption during the haircut was going to get cupcakes.

Yummy cupcakes with unfinished haircut.
Our last stop was Plato's Closet for clothes. It turned into a lot of Jayme dressing me up rather than her dressing up, but it was fun.

The kids loved taking care of C.G.
On Saturday we spent some time with Ryan's family. First we met up with them at Taco Bell and then we played games and had a YouTube fest.

C.G. checking out the Taco Bell action.
Our crowd had a hard time keeping still.

Morynn and C.G. bonding.
My contribution to Jayme's birthday was a funny story about a fart because that's our sense of humor. She was laughing so hard she was crying. I consider it a success. After our weekend of bonding my mom came to pick me up and it was time to leave.

Except we couldn't leave because she got us stuck in the driveway...

Lots of digging, ice melter, and plywood.

Hard at work.

This spot shall henceforth be known as 'Grammy's Crater.'
It took about an hour but we finally escaped and headed home.

November News

How's that for a snappy post title? It's concise, alliterative, and embodies what the post will hold. (I don't know what the inordinate amount of attention placed on my post titles is all about. I realize I've been a little obsessive about them.)

In November we spent a lot of time being sick and so not much exciting happened. We do have a couple of events worth sharing, though. One weekend we went up to Mendon to help my sister do a Thanksgiving feast. She called and asked for our help because she felt that Mr. Mitchell had the right 'dramatic flair' to play the part of Master William Brewster. I found that quite humorous while Paul couldn't quite decide whether or not he was supposed to be offended, and so we decided to help.

 The setting up process.

While we were in Mendon we decided to attend the Logan, UT temple since it was so close. There were many brides there that day and it was freezing! (It made me extra glad that we got married in the spring.) It's a beautiful 'pioneer' temple and we're happy we were able to go.
 Can you see the bride?
 It was snowy and beautiful.
The bottom was cut off because we didn't want all of the cars in the picture.

Shortly after our weekend in Mendon it was my birthday. We celebrated by going to Tucano's with friends (thank you Mark & Liahona, Benson & Marisa, Colby & Talyn, Ashley & date, for coming with us) and then coming to our apartment and playing Disney Scene-It while eating cake and ice cream. I received many birthday wishes through the mail, phone, and person, and I feel so grateful for those.
Paul was being goofy so I told him to straighten up.
He decided to poke me instead.
And then he couldn't stop laughing.
We returned to Mendon the next weekend to spend Thanksgiving with my sister's family and my brother's family. We had a great time talking and eating and watching silly videos. Unfortunately, Mr. Mitchell and I have no documentation of the event. We also went Black Friday shopping after most of the madness had ended and finally got ourselves a printer...now that we have two weeks until graduation. Woo!

Things are going well and we are grateful for our family and friends. Thanks for reading!
