It's his birthday! We celebrated by going in for a well check-up and getting shots. Don't worry; we have little party plans for Saturday, and we played a lot today. (I was going to include a picture of his little shot-riddled legs, but when I went in to get him from his nap I found his bandaids all over the floor. I guess he must have picked them all off and tossed them over the side of the crib before he fell asleep.) We were also surprised with the return of Daddy! Yay! We weren't expecting to see him until this weekend so that was a very fun treat!
My little boy has gone from this 8lb5oz, 20.5" cutie...
...to this 21lb1oz, 30" cutie.
September 25th is not just my munchkin's birthday; it is the anniversary of me entering motherhood. It is something I have wanted for as long as I can remember, and it has been wonderful. I am so grateful for my little boy who has made this journey possible. We love you Sprout!

September 2013
I figured I better do my monthly wrap-up a little early since the next time I blog it will be about a certain chap turning one and will probably be overwhelmed with pictures and videos.
First: Sprout's First Haircut! Not really, though. He had a ton of hair when he was born and has had several trims to try and keep it all tidy. It was finally time to cut it all down.
We have gone from this...
...to this.
(Please take note of how many times it took to get a shot where I could actually catch the haircut.)
He's been playing hard lately (very much in an 'in-and-out' phase right now) and whenever I check on him in his crib he almost always looks as though he passed out rather than fell asleep.
Fall is here in Idaho. The weather has been fantastic and there's that wonderful fall smell in the air. I don't normally get too into decorations because I have nowhere to store the stuff, but I'm so much in the fall spirit that I had to do a little something.
Sprout has been able to spend some time with Dad.
And, lastly, just because

Such a Big Boy
I'm dying a little bit inside: my baby is turning into a toddler. Eeek! I've been lamenting daily the past couple of weeks about how big he is getting. We went and got him a forward facing car seat and he looks so tiny again!
I am constantly wishing he would stop growing up, but I don't really mean it. It is so much fun to watch him learn and develop new skills. Mostly, I love watching his personality and quirks blossom. He has plenty of both! Here's his new thing that I can't ever seem to quite capture fully on camera.
I interrupt this series of silly pictures for storytime: Mr. Mitchell and I were enjoying a night in with a movie and a pan of brownies, but we were lazy and left the brownies out when we went to bed. When Sprout woke up in the morning Mr. Mitchell let Sprout out of the crib and set him free to do what he would. I discovered Sprout with the pan of brownies with his mouth so full he couldn't even close it all of the way, and both fists crammed full of brownies anxiously waiting to be eaten. The above pictures were taken after my mom asked if I had taken pictures, and I realized we hadn't. For the sake of memories he got a second go at the brownies.
Whenever I try to get a picture of him lately he squints his eyes, scrunches his little face, and tilts his head way back. He'll peek every once in awhile to see if the camera is still pointed at him. As you can tell, I have been getting better at timing the pictures to snatch one at the perfect time.
Last thing: Remember the first time you saw that adorable BYU *Go Cougs!* onesie? (If not, click here.) I had just finished my first trimester and he was so tiny I didn't even have a hint of a bump yet, but now he fills the stinkin' thing up. I get the feeling I'm going to be one of those moms that cries at every milestone. I miss where we've been, but I love where we're going.
P.S. When did he start to look so big in his crib? Aaahhhh!

Blame his dad for the butter knife, and don't worry: no injuries occurred. |

Genetics
I have been in possession of a digital copy of Mr. Mitchell as a baby for quite some time now, and I have finally acquired a digital copy of myself as a baby. Now you get to tell me who Sprout looks most like in baby form...
Honestly, I don't think the picture I selected of Sprout shows how much he looks like either one of us, but I really think we're both in there. What do you think?
August 2013
Well, the first of a new month signals a wrap-up of the last. August was a bit difficult for me, and I'd really rather not dwell on it, so let's jump on to the few pictures I have.
Can't get any of my videos to work so you'll just have to go without that particular cuteness this month. Later y'all.
He loves to "help" with the laundry. |
He had his first Oreo! |
Quite proficient with the doorstop. |
Lots of time at the pool. |
This is how we watch thunderstorms. |
